Car/art geek from OH
Hey all,
Coming here from Vortex/The Car Lounge. I've got the same username there too.

Me:
- 37 (till tomorrow at least)
- Partnered 13 years to my wonderful man
- Art geek/multimedia designer
- Live in Cleveland OH by choice! Ha!

Car-related stuff:
- My first word was 'car' (No joke)
- I drew cars almost exclusively since I was 4
- Went to Cleveland Institute of Art to be a car designer
- Hated the politics of the auto industry when I was in school in the mid 90's (VERY straight, very old-boys-network)

Car history:
- Learned to drive in 1980 Pontiac Sunbird (Chevy Monza clone)
- Learned stick in a Porsche 912
- Had a Chevy Beretta in college (not a GTZ but the base model with the anemic and noisy 4 cylinder and auto trans; ugh)
- Bought a New Beetle in '98 when they first came out (before the girl-car stigma), silver, manual trans.
- Bought, and still own a 2006 MKV Jetta GLI, red, manual trans, APR chipped
- Just inherited my dad's old '87 VW Scirocco 16V, red, stick, which I'm 'restoring' this winter

The scirocco is going to be sweet! Can't wait to see it. There are a lot of fellow VW enthusiasts here always great to have another. This forum is a blast so enjoy! Smile

After towing it to our house and giving it the first bath in close to 4 years:

Needs:
- New brake lines (one blew getting it onto the flatbed)
- Coolant leak found/fixed
- Sunroof seal
- Two engine mounts
- Struts
- Tires
- Cosmetic touch ups

I can't wait to get it out on the road.

I've got my photobucket open, so might as well post up some more stuff.

My GLI shortly after purchase in 2005 (this is at our old house):

Me Beetle at a Vintage VW show outside of Columbus. I won second place for 'mild modified' New Beetles:

Winter mode (at an abandoned Drive-In, Scooby Doo-style):

I made the wheels myself using standard VW steel wheels, silver metallic rattle can with a clear coat, Type 1 hubcaps I saved from my parent's 74 Super Beetle, and Type 1 hubcap clips pop riveted to the wheel.

I just stumbled into the "Attractive Guys and Cars" thread while at work. Yikes!

Love the Scirroco!!

I wondered if anyone put the 17" BRMs on a NB.

Like the self pic. Looks like something I would do.

Wish I could draw that well...

It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow
