Forum spammers

Lately we've been hit by a deluge of spammers - the other day I had to ban 11 new spam accounts in one day. If you see a spammer, like today's "adorolee", just please ignore their posts until myself or moderator Dr.Gonzo is able to delete the posts and ban the accounts.

Thanks for your patience on this matter - it's equally frustrating to Dr.Gonzo and I on the administrator side as well.

If you're wondering why we're being targeted, read on. Individuals often hire people in developing countries (for peanuts, mind) to infiltrate as many forums as possible so that promotional links can be added to their signatures (for Google search engine optimization purposes) to promote the websites who pay them to do this. The signatures will often have "HAPPY VALENTINES DAY 2010" or something generic like that as a placeholder, in hopes that we won't notice when it's changed.
