Mount Lemmon Run - Tucson
So a buddy of mine let me take his 2011 Camaro SS up the mountain today, and I have to say, it handled much better than I thought. I definitely could feel the weight of the car in some of the corners, but It still felt very planted. I only got a tad bit of tire squeal in a couple corners and hung with a few bikes the entire way up. There was still snow up there as well which was pretty cool. Enjoy!

Cool pics! How would you compare it to your MR?

My dad has a 2010 silver SS, I always bust his chops about it not being able to handle as well as my MINI. But again it is made for a different style of driving (and driver).

He usually doesn't bring it up past 3000 RPM and the other day he and I were in his car and I told him he should bring it up higher to see what the car is made of.....shouldn't have said that.

My face the whole time after that -> O.O

The 427 or so HP really does shut you up.

My Mini's smaller than your MINI!

RE: Mount Lemmon Run - Tucson
The MR on pump gas makes about 10 less whp, and about the same torque if there's good air out. But the Evo weighs about 700lbs less so it is a bit faster in the straights. The Evo also came from the factory with the Bilstein suspension (mr only) so it is very willing and confident in corners. I feel like the Evo offers more turn in and faster cornering. The Camaro was automatic though so it had the L99 (400hp) motor, not the LS3 (420+HP)

Yeah, you know what I mean, minis handle very well, and are also very light.

Haha well a lot of my friends view cars as cars. I would let a few friends drive my Evo without me, but if it was messed up when I got it back... All hell to pay. When I said I was going up the mountain in it he said "Sounds good, lemme know how it does"

That's how I am/was raised. Pretty much my entire family's outlook on vehicles - if its the family and you want to use it - go for it! Makes for an interesting time when it includes oddities like a '66 Amphicar... LOL

I used to let people drive my S2000 all the time. The only downside/worrisome factor was (and still is) how competent they are with a manual transmission. My Z has a ridiculous clutch thats either on or off.. so you really have to be proven capable before you get behind the wheel. Smile

Anyway, these pictures are awesome! That looks like such a nice drive/location! Oh, and I LOVE that color on the Camaro. Much more appropriate than that disgusting Hot Wheels looking metallic green they're offered in.

RE: Mount Lemmon Run - Tucson
Haha yeah I cant agree more.

If they cant drive stick they are not driving my evo. If they arent use to driving a fast car, not driving the evo lol.
It has a clutch masters stage 3 clutch in it so its got a decent bite.

That color on the Camaro is probably my favorite. The hot wheels green (Synergy Green) is simply too much.

Mount lemmon is probably one of the best roads in Tucson other than Gates Pass, and Kinney road. Such a blast to drive up, and there are usually car enthusiats/bike enthusiasts the entire way.
