Thinking about new wheels
It is time for new tires and I have been doing all my homework trying to figure out what to put on the Vette. Playing around I started to check out Ebay, and schemes started to pop into my head. For what I was looking for less then what I was looking at 4 new Goodyears Eagle F1's, I can go new wheels and rubber all the way around the car (using Kuhmo's which I used to run on my C4)
Here are the current wheels ![]() These are the Possible New Wheels Yeah, they are repros, but so are the ones I have on the Vette now (looks like the same company I got my current ones from). Right now I am running 18x9.5 front and 19x11 rear, and these are 19x12 and also black so they will give the car a different look. (I will ask about the defects on the rear before making a decision of course) Opinions? 2001 Corvette Convertible Canadian Export - 1 of 63 Mantetic Red Metallic II/Light Oak Will do ANYTHING for Mods...lol |

RE: Thinking about new wheels
I like the design of the new ones better. That seems really cheap for a set of wheels in those sizes, though.
No shoes, no shirt, and I still get service. Wah! |

RE: Thinking about new wheels
And do you want cosmetic blemishes? I would hold out for a better condition set.

RE: Thinking about new wheels
Change of plans...I can't run those rears on my car without major rubbing issues, I would have to go down to a 18x12...which I found.
Plan B set These are only for the rears, and even thought the design is not exact, but they are so close that they are hard to tell next to each other. 2001 Corvette Convertible Canadian Export - 1 of 63 Mantetic Red Metallic II/Light Oak Will do ANYTHING for Mods...lol |

RE: Thinking about new wheels
You want mismatched wheels? Don't do it! Trust me, you will notice it, other people will notice it, and then it starts to look ghetto because people will think WHY does he have mismatched wheels.

RE: Thinking about new wheels
IMO, Corvette owners are amongst the tackiest people to ever modify cars (not saying you). I'll never understand chrome wheels on sports cars but they seem to LOVE them... ugh...
Now, if it were MY C5... Firstly - loose the tail light inserts and go with EDM tails. ![]() Secondly, LOWER IT! As for the wheels - I say go with something mesh and preferably gold/polished lip to offset that gorgeous paint! BBS LMs look fantastic on C5s! (Ok, fine, they look great on everything!) Here is a quick photoshop - lowered on BBSs. ![]() CCWs are big amongst the Vette guys and they'd look great in something OTHER than silver/black/polished. |

Euro Lights are ok, but hopefully over the next year rears are going to be LED's and fronts will be converted to HID's The car is low enough as it is, I drive it everyday, and speedbumps, scraping leaving parking lots, and even some graded intersections in my area are bad enough stock, let alone if I lowered it. Sorry but no gold wheels...the only reason I considered miss match wheels is that they are so close to the same that unless you get on your knees and get up and personal with them, they look identical (I have seen them side by side). Plus, I like to keep my car as Corvette as possible. The wheels I am looking at are repros of C6 Z06 wheels, the ZR & Extractor hoods I'm looking at (from the other thread) are hoods from the C5-R and C6-R cars 2001 Corvette Convertible Canadian Export - 1 of 63 Mantetic Red Metallic II/Light Oak Will do ANYTHING for Mods...lol |

RE: Thinking about new wheels
08 Z06 wheels are staying...for a while.
Talked to my racing instructor, a mini tub and a wide body kit, and the car will hold the 19x14 HRE's I have been drooling over....I should really know better by now then to talk to my car friends about mods.
